State Police say the vehicle was stopped on Archer Avenue in Yonkers for a vehicle and traffic violation at around 10 p.m. on Friday, April 5. The driver of the vehicle, Claudio E. Soriano of Bronxville, was found to be intoxicated while traveling with two 12-year-olds, according to police.

Soriano was taken into custody, transported and processed at the state police barracks in Tarrytown where his BAC was determined to be 0.21 percent, twice the legal limit, said police.

He was charged with driving while intoxicated with a child in the vehicle (a Class E felony/Leandra's Law), endangering the welfare of a child (a Class A misdemeanor) and vehicle and traffic violations.

Soriano was released to a sober third party and issued appearance tickets returnable to the City of Yonkers Court on Friday, April 26.

The children were each turned over to a responsible party, police said.
